Grandma and Internet Marketing

Grandma Continues to Learn Internet Marketing

As you can see I have been missing from this blog for some time. One thing that I have learned as a senior learning to work online, is that this is not good. Fresh content is a must! So what has been going on with me?

I have been very very busy in my personal life. We have three Granddaughters – one age 6 and two ages 3. We have Monday to Friday care for them. This does consume a great deal of time and energy. I am also a Realtor and this also keeps me hopping. However none of these are real excuses for not being completely engaged in my online business.

Early in June my sites were infected with Malware. What exactly is Malware? To say that I understand it would be a mistake. The Wikipedia definition of Malware is: “Malware, short for malicious software, is software designed to secretly access a computer system without the owner’s informed consent. The expression is a general term used by computer professionals to mean a variety of forms of hostile, intrusive, or annoying software or program code, scripts, active content, and other software.” Not being technically inclined this means very little to me.

However I now know how it can affect one’s online business. In my case all my sites were attacked. I do hire a technical person to maintain and oversee my sites. However to get to the bottom of this we also needed the help and support of the hosting company. Although I use a well known, highly reputable hosting service, they were less than helpful. They put every possible obstacle in the way of my tech person getting to the bottom of the problem.

We ended up hiring sucuri.net to help with the situation. My technical person and Sucuri were in constant communication with the hosting company. This whole process took up almost the whole of June. It was a nightmare! My wish for all of you who follow this blog is that you never incur this problem.

All the while I was unable to access my sites; so I decided to look at some other ways to earn money online. I turned my attention to finding out about publishing books to the Kindle. This has been a fun interesting adventure. I will let you all know about this journey as we go along. Meantime I have published four books to the Amazon Kindle. They are as follows:
